MEDFORD, Ore. -- GPS users say the Jacksonville woman who got lost and stuck inside her car because of her GPS device is a teachable moment. Over at the electronics section at Fred Meyers, shoppers who've had GPS devices for years say it's all about updating it. One shopper recommends doing it monthly, carrying a map and a cell-phone with internet capabilies while traveling.

He says it's important especially during the winter time when getting lost could mean a matter of life or death. "I think it's well worth getting the GPS that has lifetime updates on it so that way you can consistently update as roads change," says Jamie Dorsey, GPS user.
